With GOLC membership, you’ll have access to confidential and impartial HR support individually and in regular drop-in sessions. Our experts will navigate you through the process, providing legal guidance and best practice tips, so you can confidently implement the GOLC Sexual Harassment Policy and associated procedures.
We’ll help you assess the risks involved, recommend safeguarding and reporting systems tailored to your needs, guide you through grievance and disciplinary procedures, and even conduct investigations for you if necessary. tRAINING
Our induction training session has been designed specifically for the live comedy industry. We’ll cover everything you need to know about sexual harassment definitions, your legal obligations, and dispel any misconceptions around dignity and respect in the workplace. The best part? Your membership fee includes these training sessions, led by our team of experts from diverse backgrounds.
But that’s not all! Nominated GOLC Safeguarding Leads will have the opportunity to participate in exclusive workshops that delve deeper into the complex issue of sexual harassment and violence. These workshops will provide a greater understanding of how these issues impact both victims and their colleagues. Together, let’s make the comedy scene a safer and more secure place.
Ongoing training includes topics such as,
- How to handle disclosures sensitively
- How to have open and sensitive conversations with individuals and manage conflict
- How to confidently handle allegations confidentially and fairly
- How to handle inappropriate behaviour
- How to run your own training sessions to raise awareness around dignity and respect at work
- How to assess safeguarding risks in your own organisation.
- How to recognise intersectional discrimination so that potential grievance processes and investigations can be more effective

Kitemark
Get Off Live Comedy has created a Kitemark to demonstrate the active work members are undertaking to challenge sexual harassment and violence in the workplace.
To receive the Kitemark, members are expected to actively engaging with GOLC to raise industry awareness and:
- maintain a healthy and respectful environment
- not tolerate any form of sexual harassment or violence
- immediately and respectfully respond to every claim of sexual harassment
- maintain a sexual harassment/sexual violence policy
- attend a minimum of 2 training sessions per year with GOLC
- regularly discuss protocol for reporting with all team members
GOLC launched the Kitemark to create a simple process for the industry to respond positively to the #MeToo Movement. Members that meet the required standards are granted use of the GOLC Kitemark, stating that their business takes sexual harassment seriously.
GOLC also publicly records the names of all members that receive the Kitemark as a celebration of their commitment to challenging sexual harassment.
There is a means tested charge for the Kitemark to cover admin, training and HR support costs.
